–Lawrence B. Gibbs.
Interview with Ronald Pearlman (Full Interview) - 8/15/2018
Ronald Pearlman, Professor of Law (retired), Georgetown Law School, is interviewed about his distinguished career beginning with service in the IRS, Interpretative Division, to private tax practice in St. Louis, and then in 1982-84 as Deputy Assistant Secretary (to Buck Chapoton, who as then Assistant Secretary) and then Assistant Secretary of the Treasury (Tax Policy) (1984-86). Ron reviews the dynamic period of the Reagans years insofar as the development of tax policy was concerned and the developments leading to the Tax Reform Act of 1986. In addition, he discusses his service as Chief of Staff, Joint Committee on Taxation (1988-90) and frankly assesses the difficulties of maintaining partisan balance when advising the Congress.
