Join Committee

The Tax Controversy Committee focuses on all aspects of tax controversy and tax litigation, including civil and criminal, federal and state. The Committee offers presentations for the Tax Section’s annual “Tax Law Survey in a Day” and “Advanced Tax Law” programs covering topics of interest to new and experienced tax controversy practitioners, respectively, with speakers from the private bar, the Internal Revenue Service, State tax authorities and the Judiciary. The Committee further assists in identifying and providing presentations to the Tax Section’s 24/7 online CLE library. The Committee is also responsible for submitting articles to the Tax Section’s newsletter, The Texas Tax Lawyer, on topics of interest to tax controversy practitioners. The Committee also assists the Tax Section’s Committee on Government Submissions (COGS) by providing comments on proposed regulations or rules relating to tax controversy subjects. Finally, the Committee solicits volunteers for the Tax Section’s Tax Court calendar call pro bono program, which is administered by the Tax Section’s Pro Bono Committee. We provide monthly updates to our members regarding the Committee’s activities. We are a very active Committee, and we welcome new members.
